Silent Lenten Retreat
March 24, 2007
Saturday 9:30 - 4:30

Seekers Church
276 Carroll Ave NW  Washington DC Across the street from Takoma Metro Stop.

Entering the body and the silence;
Embracing the joy and suffering
            of the gift of the Incarnation.
What do we do in the face of suffering?

Facing his betrayal, Jesus asked his disciples to stay with him and watch and pray.  How do we stay awake and follow his call?  How do we keep from glazing over or hardening in the face of suffering?  How do we enter that stillness so we may hear God's whispers?  The body can be an impediment or a gateway.  Yoga has a rich tradition which understands how to open the body to open the heart and mind.  We will use several gateways to enter the depths of the body, mind, and spirit in prayer: yoga, posture sequences to songs, meditation, Taize chant, and Lectio Divina.

No hair shirts in this retreat.
We will endeavor to stay compassionate in the face of  suffering already present in the world.

Please, if you have them, bring a sticky mat and meditation cushion.
Also please bring a vegetarian contribution to the potluck lunch.  (A kitchen is available, drinks will be provided.)

$60
